Chenie is the Senior Conveyancing Manager of our Conveyancing Department and the Office Manager. Chenie is Oden Legals initial point of contact and prides herself in offering a personable service with the utmost care and attention to detail for all of our clients.
Chenie grew up in Melbourne, Victoria and has extensive conveyancing and property experience in Queensland having worked in the industry for more than 12 years.
Chenie has lived on the Gold Coast for the last 21 years and loves working in a family owned and operated business
Prior to that Chenie worked for multiple global corporations including the Marketing department at McDonalds Australia for over 10 years.
Chenie loves to play netball in her free time and has attended many Pan Pacific Masters games. She is a proud wife, mother, grand mother, great (fur) grandmother to three dogs (French bulldog, English bulldog & a pug).
Ross is the Principal of Oden Legal with 44 years of Legal experience, and was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Victorian Supreme Court in 1985, Solicitor of the Queensland Supreme Court in 1999 and Solicitor of the High Court of Australia in 1985.
Ross grew up in Melbourne, graduating from Melbourne University, moving to the Gold Coast with his wife Chenie and children in 2000. Since moving to the Gold Coast Ross has established Oden Legal in Southport as one of the Gold Coast most respected and senior Criminal and Family Law firms. He is also a certified seperate representative to provide services in the Family Law and Children’s Law areas.
Ross gained his initial legal experience with the Victorian Crown Solicitors Office where he performed legal service for government in varied areas including property law, general litigation, finance, legislation, constitutional matters, childrens law and personal injuries. Ross's final position with the Victorian Government was as inaugural prosecutor in the Childrens Court on behalf of the Victorian Child Protection Office. Ross provides services for Legal Aid Queensland on the Criminal Law Duty Lawyer roster at Southport Magistrates Court and has done so for the last 17 years.
Under a recent contract with Legal Aid, Ross now also provides Domestic Violence Duty Lawyer Service at the Southport Specialist Domestic Violence Court. Ross also provides mediation services for Legal Aid Queensland as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner authorised by the Federal Attorney Generals Office. He has gained valuable experience relating to dispute resolution, which adds to his experience as both a prosecutor and defence lawyer.
Ross is a Sessional Member of the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal, having been appointed in November 2019 and Sworn in on the 29th January 2020. He is also a JP Qualified (QLD), Member of the Queensland Law Society and Tribunal member for the Queensland Australian Football League.
Ross identifies with his Cherokee Indigenous American heritage and all first nations peoples.
Ross enjoys off road bike riding along the Gold Coast’s Broadwater and beaches. He is an avid AFL supporter and inaugural member of the Gold Coast Suns and sits on the Tribunal for the Australian Football League Queensland and the Gold Coast District Junior Football League. He is also the proud father to a fur baby named Harvey whose statue double, guards our office reception.

Tayla prides herself on her people skills and understanding, compassionate nature in stressful situations. She works alongside her father as mentor, Ross Oden. Tayla has worked within the firm over a period of 6+ years and has experience within the courts and legal process.
Tayla grew up on the Gold Coast, graduating High School from St Hilda’s School in 2011. She then went on to study and graduate in 2017 from Bond University with a Bachelor of Arts, Majoring in Criminology (BA). Tayla pursued her studies of Criminology to understand the criminal justice system and the psychology behind criminal behaviour. Tayla is currently in her final year of Bachelor of Laws (LLB) studying online at the University of Southern Queensland. Tayla plans to specialise in Criminal Law, Domestic Violence Law and Family Law once being admitted. She hopes to use her knowledge and skills acquired through her studies of Criminology to her future profession.
